bow down manchetser

SATURDAY
Some people associate the Manchester music scene with the Stone Roses. Factory Records. Oasis. I think of Take That.

The first event of the weekend played host to Jay Jay Pistolett, Beans on Toast, The Spoon and Jose Vanders (she'll be huge), here's the Spoon & Jose:

Whilst running around like a mental, Kat sneaked in someone to replace me. Yes, he might very well be Marc Riley, but if I have to, I'll fight him for the 'Paris' title

I consoled myself with the fact that in Manchester they have hair straighteners in the toilets for hire. That's progress.

Dennis Snaggle joined the party

It was only the first night, so whilst the PG boys hit the warehouse rave (and bigger boys hit on Andy Force), Kat & I went on the hunt for an early(ish) night and food.
The fact we spotted this sign after made us feel warm inside

SUNDAY
Those pesky PG boys woke us up at 5am knocking on our door for toothpaste. It's nice to know they have good oral hygiene. To apologise they provided breakfast in bed, this is Kristian

After a hearty lunch, we went on a hunt for a poster exhibition. We got very lost. We did find this magical place (that's Rob & Andy)

Ok, Sunday night was manic. We had 10 bands playing, a variety of problems (none serious) and the best freaking party in Manchester. Friendly Fires were good, Heads We Dance were ace, Duloks were entertaining and Bolt Action Five were our heroes of the night (we'll make it up to you I promise).
There are no pictures from this evening - which in retrospect is a very good thing. I did salvage this gem (press snap?)

MONDAY
So we might not have gotten up until 2pm, missed a lot of important meetings, still have been drunk, but we managed to make it to the best dinner we've had this year. Highlight came with Kristian (the staunch vegan) being presented with the raw steak platter.
Monday saw our final party, Mannequin Republic's showcase. We were joined by our friends Xcerts who helped Kat & I try and turn the emos to rave (N-Emo?)

This night also ended in a big messy heap. Party vibes.

TUESDAY
With the final PG party crew reduced from a healthy 11 down to a hardcore 5 we headed back to London. Notable snaps are Kristian serenading Manchester Piccadilly (Dreaming The Eagle, Riding The Bear) and Andy's vanity case

as if one blog wasn't enough

Kat & I have dusted off our quill and ink and been doing a bit of writing for our favourite music magazine, Kruger. Those crazy guys have given us our own monthly column (I think they're trying to get a free record bag out of us), but have a look at the first instalment right here:
LOST IN PARIS LET LOOSE ON KRUGER

And for a weekend treat; check out this clip from my new favourite programme, Flight of the Conchords - it's amazing

Is it awful that they remind me of Chromeo?

Right we're off to destroy Manchester for In The City- I wonder if I'll see Mark Owen this time?

Kat's Great Idea Part 4 (Ruined by Ketchup)

I just went to the bank which in itself is normally pretty depressing, not because I don't have any money - I'm so used to that so it generally doesn't worry me too much. No The fact that banks in themselves are the most soulless places in the world and when they start telling me how much they want to save me money they tend to make me vomit a little.

And on the way back from the bank some little brat steps our of the corner store not looking where she was going and chucks her greasy ketchup soaked chips all down my cardigan. Said "for fucks sake" then walked off, no "sorry for ruining your cardie and making you smell like archway kebab center".

I dunno, kids today...

this is how we roll

or spin...

DJing can be fun, it can be rewarding, but when you're paying to a room of pissed up city cunts, you generally have to entertain your self.
This is what happened last week when we played in Hoxton Sq on Friday night, to an audience who have been known to request Snow Patrol.
Kat & I found small victories by necking espresso shots and slipping in 'I Am Somebody' by Medhi & Chromeo between Kayne and Amerie, 'New Jack' between Calvin Harris and CSS, playing 4 Prince records and even a Gonzales remix early doors.

In fact, here's my top 5 of the evening:

* 'Walk Like An Egyptian' - The Bangles
* 'Don't Mug Your Self' - The Streets
* 'Super Freak' - Rick James
* 'Happy Valentines Day' - Outkast
* 'Man Eater' - Hall & Oates

Never give two young ladies this much free beer when they're spinning records, it'll only end in losing a DJ before the lights come on...

ain't no party like like a Party Shank party

Last Thursday saw the single launch party for Party Shank on our sister label, Marquis Cha Cha.
Here are the band making enough noise to upset the neighbours

The most amazing thing about the Electricity Showrooms is the light up dance floor.
The sight of punks digging the disco made Andy Tiger Force and Ian Bolt Action Five emotional

Kat represented Lost In Paris on the decks all night while I ran around trying to find bands and DI boxes. She even plugged our bags
